TEENS SUPPORT IRAQ/AFGAHNI SCHOOLCHILDREN
An amazing event occurred on Wednesday, June 29th in Tchefuncta Estates in Covington. Fifteen patriotic teenagers orchestrated a "swim-a-thon" to raise funds for Operation Homefront Support. Led by Elaine Stewart and ably assisted by her little sister Sarah Stewart and cousins Charlotte and Emily Abide, these teens and their friends collected 12 boxes of school supplies, and raised over $7000 to purchase direly needed items for many youngsters who have no pencils, or pens or tablets. Parents and friends pledged dollars for each lap swum by the teens on that day. And swimmers logged between 20 and 70 laps each! The support was tremendous.
